On the border between the two provices North-Brabant and Zeeland lies a little village called De Heen. Here the idea of the campingraft was born in 1998. Jos Akkermans, owner of Akkermans leisure & golf, introduced the concept of sleeping on water and was nominated for the National Tourism Award in 1999.

The 5 rafts lie quietly hidden between the reed on the banks of the Steenbergse Vliet, a small river that floats through the rustic landscape of North-Brabant. Close to the rafts you will find a local and European monument that consists of several locks and small houses. It is called Beneden Sas. From this point a variety of hikes start that will lead you through a special nature area with various wildlife.

Next to nature there are a couple of interesting cities close to the rafts. You can, for example, visit the historic city centre of Bergen op Zoom. Recently this city centre was chosen as 'Best City Centre in Holland'. Also the Flemish city of Antwerp is closeby. Another option would be the beaches in Zeeland which are about an hour away by car. At the leisurecentre of Akkermans lies a 9 holes par-3 golfcourse with driving range.
If you are into fishing this spot will definitely give you a unique fishing experience. A few years ago Dicovery Channel made a pikeperch special at this location.
