Maascentre De Wissen was the first location outside Holland. Within the Maasland region you will find the 'green' province of Limburg, close to the Dutch-Belgian border. In the local informationcentre there is information of all kinds. There is enough to do and visit in the area. The permanent exhibition about the river The Maas - including an interactive information desk and a beautiful movie about the river - shows why the river makes the area so special.

In the basketwork museum you will discover how the village of Stokkem was the centre of this craftwork. In Grand Cafe De Wissen you can have a beer, a proper lunch, or a delicious diner. There is bike rental for those who prefer to see the area by bike. A true speciality is the storywhisperer... From April to October it is possible to rent electric motorboats that are easily navigatable. Without making any sound you will sail over the river enjoying nature.
